It is fairly unusual for some people to fail a part or the all of their IELTS exam on the first attempt. Fortunately, you can repeat the exam as many times as you need to get a passing score. You must, however, pay each time you take the exam.
Rather of simply retaking the exam until you achieve a passing score, it's wiser to figure out what went wrong and why you failed the first time. Reviewing your current exam scores will help you identify areas where you are deficient and need to improve.
You must complete and pass four separate test portions. Each part receives its own score. You get an overall exam score based on those four scores. Minimum score criteria may apply depending on your reasons for taking the IELTS exam.
We recommend that you use the following measures before retaking your IELTS exam to help you develop and get a passing score the next time you take the exam.
Step 1: Review each section of the exam.
Step 2: Take a practice IELTS exam.
Step 3: Practice, practice, and practice some more.
Step 4: Register to retake your IELTS exam.
