Why it is so importance ?
Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve.
Jolly Phonics is a foundation for reading and writing. It teaches the letter sounds in an enjoyable, multisensory way, and enables children to read and write words. The use of phonics is an important strategy for reading, writing and spelling and is taught daily throughout Reception Year 1 and Year 2.
Phonics instruction teaches children how to decode letters into their respective sounds, a skill that is essential for them to read unfamiliar words by themselves. Keep in mind that most words are in fact unfamiliar to early readers in print, even if they have spoken knowledge of the word
