The CEFR requirements for French language competency are listed below. Regardless of the level of exam taken, there are four sections to the exam: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. An individual taking any level of exam is tested in all four areas of the French language. The following sections discuss French language knowledge at each level:

DELF / DALF Exams in India

DELF is an abbreviation for Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française; DALF is an abbreviation for Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française. These two proficiency exams are intended to verify non-native French speakers' mastery of the French language. Every year, approximately 300,000 students worldwide enrol for the different French language competency examinations. These two significant examinations are now given and awarded by the French Ministry of Education. They are considered as an international benchmark exam for assessing a learner's proficiency and understanding of the French language. DELF and DALF competence examinations consist of six distinct certificates that also fulfil the CEFR (Common European Reference Framework for Languages) level.
